Pittsburgh School Calendar 2018-19: First Day Of School, Vacation

PITTSBURGH, PA — The first day of school in Pittsburgh is August 24 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you’ll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Pittsburgh District has released its 2018-2019 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates, such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/24: First Day of School
• 8/29: First Day of School for Kindergarten

September

• 9/3: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/10: No School (Rosh Hashanah)
• 9/19: No School (Yom Kippur)
• 9/28: Early Dismissal (Half-Day Teacher Professional Development)

October

• 10/8: No School for Early Childhood, Pre-K-5, Pre-K-8 and 6-8 Schools (Parent/Teacher Conferences)
• 10/12: No School for 6-12, High School and Special Schools
• 10/26: Early Dismissal (Half-Day Teacher Professional Development)

November

• 11/6: No School (Election Day)
• 11/12: No School (Veterans Day Observed)
• 11/22 - 11/26: No School (Thanksgiving Vacation)

December

• 12/24 - 12/31: No School (Winter Vacation)

January

• 1/1: No School (Winter Vacation, New Year's Day)
• 1/21: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 1/28 - 1/29: No School (Teacher Professional Development Days)

February

• 2/1: Early Dismissal (Half-Day Teacher Professional Development)
• 2/22: Early Dismissal (Half-Day Teacher Professional Development)

March

• 3/8: Early Dismissal (Half-Day Teacher Professional Development)
