Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade Postponed
The coronavirus outbreak once again has prompted the popular parade's cancellation.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Last year, Pittsburgh's popular St. Patrick's Day parade was cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak. Organizers this year say the parade again will not take place as scheduled, but are exploring the idea of holding it later this year.
"The Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee, in conjunction with the City of Pittsburgh, has made the decision to postpone the annual Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade, originally scheduled for March 13, 2021," an announcement on the parade's Facebook page stated. "The St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee is working with the City of Pittsburgh to identify a date in the latter half of 2021 when a parade can safely be celebrated."
The parade wasn't cancelled until March last year, when the outbreak was still in its infancy and Allegheny County had yet to experience its first case. Since then, there have been nearly 70,000 cases in the county.
