Plane Slides Off Taxiway At Pittsburgh Airport: Latest Details

A Delta Airlines plane slid off a Pittsburgh International Airport taxiway Wednesday evening.

FINDLAY TOWNSHIP, PA — The Delta Airlines plane that slid off a taxiway at Pittsburgh International Airport Wednesday evening had not been removed as of early Thursday morning. Airport officials were working with the airline to remove the plane.

Airport operations are proceeding normally this morning.

Delta Flight 2231 to Atlanta was taxiing to the runway for takeoff when the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. There were 77 people on board. No injuries were reported.

Buses were dispatched to the Boeing 717 to assist passengers in deplaning, an airport spokesman said. They were shuttled to the terminal.
