The Seneca Valley School District is getting rid of its longtime Native American imagery.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — The Seneca Valley School District will drop its logo featuring a Native American after school directors voted 8-0 Monday to do so. One board member was absent for the vote.

The district will keep the Raiders nickname for its sports teams, but will devise a new logo. It's unclear when the logo will be formally changed.

Several professional sports teams have taken or are taking similar steps. The Washington Redskins last year became the Washington Football Team while the franchise decides on a new nickname. The Cleveland Indians also are close to announcing a new nickname, according to numerous reports this week.
