Severe Storms Could Wallop Pittsburgh Again Thursday
Thousands remained without power in the Pittsburgh area Thursday morning after Wednesday's severe weather.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service is warning more severe storms are possible Thursday as the cleanup continues from yesterday's storms that downed trees, caused flooding and left nearly 30,000 Duquesne Light customers without power.
Nearly 4,500 homes were still in the dark as of 7:15 a.m Thursday, according to Duquesne Light's online outages page. Municipalities with the most outages include Edgewood. O'Hara, Plum, Wilkins, Penn Hills, West Mifflin, Churchill and Wilkinsburg.
Edgewood officials declared a state of emergency Wednesday due to the storm uprooting many trees and leaving many residents without power. Public safety crews in numerous communities responded to numerous reports of downed trees and wires during the storms, according to Allegheny County's Twitter page.

According to the weather service, strong to possibly severe thunderstorms are possible again this afternoon and evening with the main threats being damaging winds and flooding. There are no active watches or warnings in the Pittsburgh area as of Thursday morning.
There's an 80 percent chance of precipitation today, with high temperatures approaching 80. A chance of showers and storms remains in the forecast for Friday, but no severe weather is expected.
