Severe Storms Possible For Pittsburgh Area Sunday

PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service says much of southwestern Pennsylvania is under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches the region.
The main hazard is expected to be damaging wind, though large hail is also possible. The storms are expected to develop late this afternoon.
Today will be partly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph
in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent New rainfall amounts will be between a tenth and quarter of an inch, but expect higher amounts in thunderstorms.

Isolated severe thunderstorms also are possible Monday afternoon and evening, with damaging wind and large hail possible.
Monday's high will be in the lower 80s. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
