Shots Fired At Pittsburgh Police Officers, Search On For Armed Suspect

A manhunt is underway to apprehend a man who allegedly attempted to shoot two Pittsburgh police detectives.

PITTSBURGH, PA ? Allegheny County police are searching for a Wilkinsburg man accused of firing shots at Pittsburgh police detectives Thursday.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., two detectives in plain clothes were surveilling the vehicle of Darrell Barham, 40, parked in the 100 block of Newfield Drive in Penn Hills. Barham exited a residence and saw the detectives, who left the scene in their unmarked vehicle.

Barham got into his vehicle and followed them closely. The detective were on Hulton Road near Iowa Street when they heard multiple shots fired and saw muzzle flashes coming from Barham's vehicle.

Barham is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, persons not to possess a firearm, and recklessly endangering another person.

Barham is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and he weighs approximately 210 pounds. He currently is on federal probation and should be considered potentially armed and dangerous. If seen, police say do not approach him and call 911.
