Station Square Getting Southern Cuisine Restaurant

The new eatery will debut at Station Square later this year.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A restaurant chain specializing in southern cuisine will be one of the early anchors of Station Square's revamped Freight House Shops.

Tupelo Honey will open its first Pennsylvania location later this year, the Pittsburgh Business Times reported.

According to the restaurant's website, Tupelo Honey offers simply crafted, scratch based Southern breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Among its menu items are fried chicken, shrimp and grits, country catfish and cast-iron pork.

The restaurant is the second business to commit to the reconstructed Freight House Shops, which essentially was gutted several years ago. First Ascent, which specializes in climbing walls, also is expected to open this year.
