'A League Of Their Own' TV Series To Film In Pittsburgh
Based on the legendary movie, portions of the series will be shot in the Steel City.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Amazon's new TV series "A League Of Their Own," about a women's professional baseball league, will film in Pittsburgh. The series production company is advertising for crew members on the Pittsburgh Film Office website.
Created by Abbi Jacobson of "Broad City, " fame and Will Graham, the hour-long series is a reinterpretation of the successful 1992 feature film about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Jacobson will star in the reboot.
"Penny Marshall told us a story about women playing professional baseball that up until then had been largely overlooked. We grew up obsessed with the film, like everyone else," Jacobson and Graham said in a joint statement.

"Three years ago, we approached Sony with the idea of telling a new, still overlooked set of those stories. With the help of an enormously talented team of collaborators, an amazing cast, and the devoted support of Amazon to this project, we feel beyond lucky and excited to get to bring these characters to life."
It's unclear what locations in the city will be used for filming.
