Update: Officer Stabbed, Man Dead In Violent Pittsburgh Altercation
The aftermath of a domestic dispute turned deadly in Pittsburgh early on Friday.
PITTSBURGH, PA ? A city police officer was stabbed and a man was shot to death early Friday in Brighton Heights.
At 3:45 a.m. police were dispatched for a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Carpenter Lane. A person was taken to court to file an emergency protection from abuse order.
A little before 6 a.m. police arrived back at the residence on Carpenter Lane to serve the order.

When officers entered the home, a man approached an officer with a knife and stabbed the officer. A second responding officer then shot the male multiple times. The officer was treated at the scene for minor stab wounds. The man died at the scene.
The Allegheny County Police Department?s Homicide Unit has initiated an investigation. The status of the officer involved in the incident will be determined by Pittsburgh police in accordance with their policies and procedures.
