The Waterfront Adding New Restaurants, Retailers

PITTSBURGH, PA —Changes are afoot at The Waterfront, with new dining and retail openings scheduled for later this summer. Two new eateries and two shoe stores are scheduled to debut later this summer.

The new additions include Shorty's Tap x Taco, Boards & Baskets, Shoe Fly and Appalachian Running Company.

  • Shorty's Tap x Taco: Described as a new "retro-tainment" concept, Shorty's is a sister operation of the popular local Burgatory chain. It's under construction in the former Bar Louie space between Jimmy John's and Bravo.
  • Boards & Baskets: This charcuterie deli will carry traditional charcuterie boards and gift baskets in addition to offering breakfast lunch and dinner menus. The deli will open in the former Eyepolis space across from the Improv.
  • Shoe Fly: This Pennsylvania-based shoe retailer has purchased Gordon’s Shoes next to Barnes & Noble and and will update its showroom and offer an expanded footwear selection.
  • Appalachian Running Company : This Shoe Fly subsidiary will open in the former New Balance Pittsburgh next to GNC and specialize in running shoes.

“Along with the four additions coming in summer 2021, we have interest from several other potential occupants, including service-oriented operations and restaurants," said Marty Sweeney, senior vice president of The Waterfront property manager M&J Wilkow. "With these enhancements to our portfolio, The Waterfront is well-positioned to meet the demands of today’s shopper.”
