Wendy's To Test New Plant-Based Burger In Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh will be one of three cities where the fast food chain will test the new burger.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Wendy's has begun testing a new plant-based sandwich in Pittsburgh and two other cities, Columbus, OH and Jacksonville, FL. Sales of the fast food chain's Spicy Black Bean Burger began Tuesday.
As with all items on Wendy's menu, the new burger can be made to order. Order everything on the sandwich and you'll get a black bean patty with a blend of spices, layered with crunchy chipolte jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and a spicy chipolte sauce. The burger also can come with tomatoes, sweet onion slices and romaine lettuce. The sandwich is served on a toasted bun.
"Customers are demanding plant based sandwiches and we're answering the call with a mouth-watering sandwich packed with multiple layers of heat and flavor," said Carl Loredo, Wendy's chief marketing officer.
