8 Plum, Oakmont Restaurants Get Business Of The Year Nominations
Patch readers have nominated a host of Plum and Oakmont eateries as a Business of the Year.
PLUM AND OAKMONT, PA — It's been a roller-coaster year for most businesses in Plum and Oakmont. The coronavirus pandemic has presented several challenges for most local businesses, from the closures in the spring to enduring restrictions and other hurdles that continue this fall.
But many of Plum and Oakmont's best-known businesses have managed to navigate the turbulence with steadfast determination and an unwavering commitment to the clients they serve. To shine a special spotlight on these local businesses, Patch has asked readers to nominate Local Businesses of the Year.
The bulk of the early nominations have been for some of the two boroughs' most popular eateries, especially Lelulo's Pizza in Plum. Here they are, along with comments from the people who submitted the nominations.

- Eighty Acres Kitchen & Bar
Beverly Lintelman wrote, "Created amazing family style dinners and brunches for takeout during the pandemic. Always friendly, clean, and food is the best in town."

Joanne Friedman wrote, "They were so great during this pandemic. They kindly delivered food to me twice in the beginning and I also got takeout myself many times. The owner and all of the staff are wonderful as is the food, always. It's my favorite restaurant and always will be."
- Somma's Pizza
Nick Shuman wrote, "Somma’s kept a positive attitude during this tough year, always happy and thankful for our business. They made great use of the downtime from COVID-19 shutdown of indoor dining and updated the interior. They also added an entire outdoor, dog friendly area with picnic tables, charging stations, water stations and tie outs for the dogs. They also put up very nice overhead lighting."
Shelly Puskar: "Great food, friendly environment. Sue and Mark interact with customers., Jeanette and Jim are great bartenders."
OAKMONT
- Oakmont Bakery
Barbie Dominick: "Oakmont Bakery went far and beyond to help our community, employees and people in need in this pandemic. They took a lot of heat during the election with the presidential cookies and the unexpected visit from Eric Trump. The Serrao Family are an amazing example of business owners. Their bakery has brought a lot of business and jobs to our towns near and far."

Lynn Cacciamani: "Great atmosphere, friendly service, fair prices."
- Hofstot's Cafe Monaco Restaurant
Maria Piatanida: "Hofstot's was brilliant in starting a drive through meal option in response to the pandemic. The food is excellent and at $12/meal the price is reasonable. The servers who stand outside to fill orders are always efficient and friendly (even when the weather isn't pleasant)."

Julia Lynch: "They have the best strawberry Moscow mule and their environment is really laid back. Did I mention their food, yum."
