Former Plum Teacher Faces Arraignment On Child Sex Charges

Louis Thon was working as a substitute in the district when the allegations came to light.

PLUM BOROUGH, PA - A former substitute teacher in the Plum Borough School District waived his preliminary hearing on charges of statutory sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor. Louis Thon III, 25, is scheduled for formal arraignment on Nov. 1.

Thon allegedly met a then-13-year-old boy via social media and had a sexual encounter with him. The boy told a female student about the incident last year and she reported it.

Thon was a substitute teacher in Plum by then, but the alleged incident occurred before he started teaching in the district. When district administrators learned of the allegations from a parent, they notified police and barred Thon from district facilities.
