Local Girl to Compete in Miss Teen Pennsylvania Pageant

Ava Bosco, the daughter of a Verona business owner, is competing in her first pageant.

Ava Bosco, daughter of Mark and Donna Bosco, will be among the candidates competing for the title of Miss Teen of Pennsylvnia at the 2012 State Pageant this weekend in Shippensburg.

Donna Bosco is the owner of Bosco Hair Design in Verona.

Ava, 14, has been mentored by 2011 —and 2012 Miss America contestant—of Plum Borough. Sheldon and Ava connected via Donna Bosco, who styles Sheldon's hair.

The winner of Miss Teen of Pennsylvania will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a $500 U.S. savings bond. She also will be eligible to compete for the National Title of Miss Teen of America.

Candidates will be scored on: scholastic record, achievement and service to school and community, personal development of talent and skills, general awareness written test, personality projection in formal wear, and interview.

Ava will compete in the talent show playing her guitar and singing—something she has done at several Verona events, including the fall festival and light-up night.
