Many Plum High School Students, Parents Ordered To Quarantine
More than 150 students and families held a parent-sponsored event over the weekend; one attendee has contracted the coronavirus.

PLUM, PA — Students who attended the Plum High Class of 2021 Senior Parent Committee’s Homecoming Dance on Saturday will have to quarantine until Dec. 1 after one of the attendees was diagnosed with the coronavirus. The Allegheny County Health Department ordered the quarantine, the district announced in a letter to parents.
About 150 students and families attended the event at the Five Pines Barn in Irwin, Westmoreland County. According to the district, masks were not required at all times and social distancing was not maintained during the parent-sponsored event..
"Although this was not a school-sponsored event, the district's number one priority is the health and safety of our students and staff," the letter stated. "Due to the participants attending this event, the health department is unable to provide contact tracing."

Students in quarantine will learn virtually until they are permitted to return to school.
The health department is encouraging parents of the students who attended the event to monitor their children for symptoms of the virus.
