Plum Demcratic Mayoral Candidate Unexpectedly Dies

PLUM, PA — Shawn Marcellino, the borough's Democratic mayoral nominee, collapsed and died Tuesday. Mr. Marcellino was 40.

According to a statement from his family, Mr. Marcellino died of a ruptured aorta. He flt chest pains during a softball game and sat down to let them pass. He soon collapsed and was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, where he later died.

Mr. Marcellino was supposed to take on current Plum Mayor Harry Schlegel in the November general election. It's unclear who the Democratic mayoral nominee now will be.
