Sports Authority Controller Charged With Embezzling $320,000
Sharon Mink of Plum allegedly embezzled from a former employer, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office says.
The Pittsburgh-Allegheny County Sports & Exhibition Authority controller has been placed on unpaid leave after being charged with embezzling more than $319,ooo from a previous employer. Sharon Mink, 43, of Plum is accused of misappropriating the money from Research Underwriters of Forest Hills for cruises, air fare, and merchandise from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Coach and Tiffany, according to the district attorney's office.
The thefts allegedly occurred between 2013 and 2017, when she resigned from Research Underwriters. She was hired shortly thereafter by the SEA.
Her bio on the authority website states that her responsibilities include the production of financial reports, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, banking, maintaining
systems for accurately preserving accounting records, and developing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to ensure the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
