After Sinkhole Opens, Plymouth's Chemical Road Remains Shut Down
Sinkholes have struck Plymouth Township again, as the shut down has led to additional traffic around the local area.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — Chemical Road remains shut down to traffic in Plymouth Township this week, days after a sinkhole was discovered and PennDOT began emergency repairs.
Officials have not announced any kind of timetable for the project, so it remains unclear how long the closure will be in place.
The road was first shut down in the afternoon last Friday. It's in place from Metroplex Boulevard to just west of Germantown Pike. Motorists can still access the Metroplex, Ruby Tuesday, and Hampton Inn.

It's not the first time incidents of this nature have led to protracted delays in the area. Sinkholes closed Butler Pike for more than two years until a massive reconstruction project was finally finished a few months ago.
PennDOT said the closures would be in place 24/7, "until repairs are complete or individual travel lanes can safely be reopened."

PennDOT has also shut down the northbound off ramp from I-476 to Chemical Road.
Motorists are being detoured to Gallagher Road, Belvoir Road, Sandy Hill Road, and Germantown Pike, leading to delays in the area.
Local businesses and residents do still have access.
