After Years Of Work, Balligomingo Road Reopens In W. Conshohocken
Closed to through traffic for years, West Conshohocken's Balligomingo Road has finally reopened.
WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Closed to through traffic for years as extensive construction work took place, West Conshohocken's Balligomingo Road finally reopened on Friday afternoon, PennDOT officials announced.
The road has been closed since June 2015 due to flood damage and various related issues, including an erosion of the nearby slope leading to an encroachment upon the roadway.
Specifically, around 200 feet of the road was heavily impacted between Portland Road and the I-476 overpass.

Construction crews stabilized the slope with rock protection and a retaining wall, as well as improving drainage by installing a system which will carry floodwater and runoff to nearby Gulph Creek, PennDOT said. The roadway was also resurfaced.
However, the road will need to be closed and detoured again in the near future, officials said. A local property owner at the top of the slope needs to build a retaining wall to prevent further erosion, and an adjacent parking lot needs to be rebuilt.

The $5.6 million project was funded at the federal level, and work was completed by Road-Con of West Chester.
