Police said that 71 vehicles were broken into and many had items stolen from stations along SEPTA's Manayunk/Norristown line.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — An arrest has been made after police said that 71 vehicles were broken into and many had items stolen from stations along SEPTA's Manayunk/Norristown line.

Zachary Righter, 26, of Philadelphia, has been charged with vandalism of vehicles, theft from vehicles, credit card fraud, and more.

The rash of incidents occurred over a one-month period between Dec. 2, 2019 and Jan. 1, 2020, according to Whitemarsh Police.

All of the thefts and break-ins occurred in the areas of the Conshohocken, Spring Mill, and Miquon train stations.

An investigation determined that credit cards stolen from the vehicles had been used in the area. Police said they were then able to obtain video of Righter using the cards, and issued wanted posters with his photo.

Righter used the Schuylkill River Trail, which parallels much of the Manayunk/Norristown line, to ride from station to station and steal items, police said. On Jan. 2, a SEPTA police officer recognized Righter from the wanted poster, and he was arrested near the Ivy Ridge station.

Bail was set at $10,000, which he was unable to post, and he was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Residents are urged to take care not to leave anything of value in plain view inside their vehicles while parked at SEPTA stations.
