"It is in the best interest of public safety" to postpone the Conshohocken St. Patrick's Day Parade, authorities said.
CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — As coronavirus cases appear in Montgomery County, authorities are taking preventative measures to slow its spread. On Monday they announced that the area's largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in Conshohocken has been postponed.
The parade, which had been scheduled for this Saturday, March 14, will now be held on Saturday, March 28.

The decision was made between the borough of Conshohocken and the Montgomery County AOH St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. It comes as the seventh case of coronavirus was found in Montgomery County Monday. A total of 10 cases have been found statewide.
The March 28 date is not final, as, of course, the situation could change between now and then.

"We will continue to monitor the situation concerning COVID-19 and will announce any further decisions pertaining to the parade on the Borough’s website and social media outlets as we get closer to that date," the borough said in their statement issued Monday.
The parade traces its roots to the old Norristown parade which started in 1992. Since 2006, it's been in Conshohocken, and serves as Montgomery County's only St. Patrick's Day parade.
