Democrat Mary Jo Daley Easily Wins Re-Election In 148th District

State Rep. Mary Jo Daley has won her fifth term to represent Ambler, Conshohocken, and the surrounding area in the 148th District.

WHITEMARSH, PA — Sitting State Rep. Mary Jo Daley has easily won re-election for her fifth consecutive term in the 148th legislative district, defeating challenging Republican Allen Anderson by a wide margin.

The 148th, which includes Ambler, Conshohocken, Narberth, Whitemarsh, and parts of Plymouth, Lower Merion, and Whitpain, has been under Democratic control since 2005.

While some 40,000 mail-in ballots still needed to be counted countywide early Wednesday evening, Daley held an insurmountable lead at 28,981 to 12,689. All in-person voting precincts in Montgomery County are reporting.

After polls closed Tuesday night, Daley urged residents patience as they awaited results of the presidential election.

"With the polls now closed, we all want to know the outcome of this election," she said. "Here in Montgomery County mail-in ballots will continue to be counted all night and continually for as long as there are ballots to count. But we must all strive to be patient, as the results from each of Pennsylvania’s counties come in over the next few days. Every voice must be heard."

Daley ran uncontested in the 2018 election, and won her 2016 election by a similarly vast marign, 24,669 to challenger Edward Flocco's 14,193 votes.

Anderson, a Plymouth resident, is a former county attorney in Iowa.

Daley's victory was one of many called for Democrats in Montgomery County late Tuesday and early Wednesday. Fellow state legislators Matt Bradford, Joe Webster, and Liz Hanbidge won re-election, while Nancy Guenst made history in the 152nd district, flipping it blue for the first time ever.

As expected U.S. Congresswoman Madeleine Dean won re-election in Pennsylvania's 4th, while Amanda Cappelletti convincingly defeated Ellen Fisher to replace Daylin Leach in the 17th senatorial district.

Heading into Election Day, Republicans controlled the state legislature by a 109-93 margin.
