Get Your Cupcake On, Plymouth Township

A Greater Plymouth Cupcake Contest will be a part of Community Day.

Think you've got what it takes? Are you the world's next "Cake Boss" or Duff? Maybe you're the up-and-coming Betty Crocker. Then Plymouth says "bring it on."

Area residents can test their cupcake baking and decorating skills with the Greater Plymouth Valley Contest. Slated for Saturday, June 1 to coincide with Plymouth Township Community Day, those that wish to enter their baked treats can come to East Plymouth Valley Park.

The cupcakes are to be dropped off between 4:30 to 5 p.m. Judging will take place from 5 to 5:30 p.m. From 5:30 to 7 p.m., there will be a "People's Choice" selection. Guests to the township's Community Day will get to pick their favorites, in addition to the judges.

At 7 p.m., winners will be announced. (Clean-up will follow from 7:15 to 8 p.m.)

  • Amateurs only
  • Pre-registration is required. Please fill out the application.
  • Cupcakes must be made entirely in advance and ready for judging upon your arrival.
  • All decorations must be edible. No plastic or other non-edible items.
  • All cupcakes must be entered at room temperature. We will not be able to provide refrigeration.
  • Cupcakes are to be the standard size cupcakes. No minis, giants or pops please.
  • Each contestant must provide 24 identical cupcakes. Each judge gets a cupcake and the rest are for the People’s Choice tasting.
  • A maximum of 12 entries can be submitted, while a minimum of six should be entered.

The contest will be judged on the following criteria:

ï‚· 4 judges will be used. In the event of a tie, a 5th judge used.

 A People’s Choice Award will be given

 Prizes: Ribbons will be awarded 

Judging Criteria will be based 33% on Presentation/Appearance, 33% on Creativity, and 33% on Taste.

The price to enter the contest is $25. Only $5 is used for a registration fee, while $20 will be treated as a deposit. It will be returned to participants at the end of the event. 

Registration is required for entry. Ribbons will be awarded to those that obtain first, second and third places, along with a special "People's Choice" ribbon, as well.
