How To Dispose Of Your Christmas Tree In Plymouth, Whitemarsh

There's an increased risk of Christmas tree fires after the holiday has passed. Here's how to dispose your tree in Plymouth and Whitemarsh.

PLYMOUTH-WHITEMARSH, PA — Wondering what to do with that Christmas tree once the holidays are over?

Here's a look at how to get rid of your Christmas tree in the Plymouth and Whitemarsh area. One thing to note: whether you're recycling your tree or leaving it to be picked up by the municipality, be sure to remove all ornaments and tinsel.

In the meantime, the time between Christmas and New Years is when most Christmas tree fires happen, according to the National Fire Protection Association. The risk remains high after the New Year. Be sure to water your tree to prevent it from drying out and becoming fire-prone.

Whitemarsh

Trees will be picked up every Wednesday curbside by J.P. Mascaro.

Plymouth

Trees will be collected and recycled as yard waste beginning Tuesday, Jan. 2. Trees are chipped and the chips are used as mulch, which is free to the public to be taken from the Public Works driveway at 700 Belvoir Road.

Norristown

Christmas trees and yard waste will be collected beginning Monday, Jan. 15 on the day after one's usual trash pick-up. As an example, when trash is usually collected on Wednesday, the Christmas tree should be out by 6 a.m. on Thursday. In order to be collected, trees must be bare with no decorations, ornaments or lights.

East Norriton

Crews will pick up trees across the township throughout January. Trees should be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of collection. More than 700 trees were collected and recycled in the township last year.

West Norriton

Christmas trees will be collected starting Monday, Jan. 1 and will be collected through January.

Recycling event

There will be a Recycling Event at Franconia Township Park's Allentown entrance on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is organized by Souderton Area High School's S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violating the Earth). Students will unload your trees for you.
