It’s Back to School Time...Don’t Stress

By Dr. Marilyn Tinari-GEZ Program Officer & Former Head of Springside Chestnut Hill (SCH) Middle School for Girls

(GEZ:Back to School Boot Camp)

Summer break is wonderful for rest, recharging and using all of the learning of the prior school year to ignite the imaginination through plain, old-fashioned play! It’s also a time, as research shows, when students can lose ground on the academic skills they acquired during the school year.

Now that August (the Sunday night of summer!) is upon us, it’s time to begin getting ready for the start of school. With some planning and guidance, that can be not only productive, but an engaging activity. First and foremost, completing summer assignments now -either in reading, math, or both- will ensure that the first days back are free of stress and last minute cramming. Additonally, there are many skills and strategies for organization, studying, managing time and schedules, and test-taking, that when learned in summer and applied to classwork can guarantee success in the middle school years and beyond.

While shopping for school supplies and getting all the thingsyou need is exciting, having yourself ready to go with your own personal set of skills and tools is positively empowering!

We assist Middle School Students (5th-8th grades) with solid preparation while eliminating eliminating Parents’ stress. Register your child today for our GEZ:Back to School Boot Camp. There are still a few seats available.
