SUV In Triple Fatal Crash Was Going 100 MPH, Report Says

Multiple people were killed in a major overnight crash in Montgomery County, police confirmed.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — The SUV that was involved in a crash that left three people dead in Montgomery County overnight was going 100 mph at the time of the accident, according to information in a new 6ABC report.

The speed limit in the area of the crash, the five point intersection with Ridge Pike, Chemical Road, North Lane, Colwell Road, is 35 mph.

Police said the Honda Pilot did not make the turn as it came flying into the intersection just before midnight. Instead, it crossed over the median and struck a Dodge Caravan, that was traveling east on Ridge Pike, head-on.

Three people were killed the crash, police confirmed. Their identities have not yet been released by authorities. A fourth victim was injured critically, and is being treated at Temple University Hospital.

The dead include the drivers of both the Honda and the Dodge, as well as a passenger in the Honda who was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The injured individual was also a passenger in the Honda, police said.

The crash left Ridge Pike and a ramp to nearby I-476 shut down for hours as emergency crews responded to the scene. The road ultimately reopened at around 6 a.m.

Authorities are investigating the incident. It's not yet clear how many other injuries there might be, and none of the victims have yet been identified.
