Montco Adorable Pet Of The Week: Sawyer The Staffordshire

Sawyer is a proud pup, with a personality and quirkiness befitting the nobility of his breed.

(Montgomery County SPCA)

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Rescued from the streets as a stray, it was clear right away that Sawyer had not always lived the easiest of lives.

The Staffordshire terrier had an abscess on his back, which veterinarians at the Montgomery County SPCA's Conshohocken facility determined was the result of a bite.

But as his indefatigable friendliness and loving personality indicate, Sawyer is not one to stay down for long. He was quarantined for four months following the bite, and healed. He was neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and now he's fired up to find his new lifelong companions.

Like other great creative minds, Sawyer needs an outlet for his formidable physical, emotional, and mental energy. "When bored," shelter caretakers note, "He can be a little destructive of his bedding." Who hasn't flung their tangled sheets aside with furor and frustration after an interminable day?

He also isn't a huge fan of other dogs, so he'd do best in a home where he's the only canine.
