Montco Nursing Home Residents Evacuated After Water Main Break

Around 100 residents of the Montgomery County nursing home had to be relocated after a water main broke on Monday.

GLENSIDE, PA — Around 100 residents of the Montgomery County nursing home had to be relocated after a water main broke on Monday.

The incident occurred at around 2 p.m. at the Fairview Care Center of Paper Mill Road, located in Glenside.

Officials with the nursing home said that the pipe on the first floor of the building burst and began flooding the building.

Though the water was not impacting a residential area, the Center decided "in an abundance of caution" to move 108 patients to other nursing homes in the area, officials said.

A backup generator provided power as first responders from several surrounding municipalities responded to the scene to assist.

Repairs are currently underway at the facility. It's not yet clear when they will be completed.
