Montco Pet Of The Week: Lucy, A Dog Who Needs A Special Home
Lucy has had a very tough life, and needs patient humans who will help thrive. Clearly she has much to offer the world.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — When choosing to adopt a dog, cat, or other animal, many families understandably have many of their own concerns chiefly in mind: is this a "problem" animal, and will there be trouble integrating the animal into my life?
While there are endless dozens of "easy" animals to adopt, the good boys and girls that most need our help are those like Lucy, who have suffered due to poor treatment from other humans.
Lucy's profile is not without blemishes. The 9-year-old pitbull and black mouth cur mix has some destructive tendencies, is very frightened around new people, and did show some aggression when she first arrived at the Montgomery County SPCA. She had a family, but they surrendered her on April 1.

However, since then, she's calmed down. She has been described as very friendly once she warms up to and trusts a new person. "We feel that Lucy needs someone that is willing to work with her and understands that training may be the key," the SPCA says.
They recommend she not go to a home with children. And there can be no promises she will be perfect upon arrival.

"Older dogs can learn just like younger dogs, but there is no guarantee that she won't be destructive in a new home," the SPCA adds.
Lucy is in need of truly special and patient human who can help her thrive and reach her very high potential, of which she has shown very promising glimmers. To learn more about adopting Lucy and the many other great animals at the SPCA, see here.
