PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — The Plymouth Meeting Bed Bath & Beyond will not be closing, the company has confirmed.

The news comes weeks after an announcement that the company had many changes planned for 2020. Those changes included store closures, relocations, and renovations, the company announced in a September letter to shareholders.

In fact, just one out of the 29 Pennsylvania Bed Bath & Beyond stores will close in 2020, spokeswoman Courtney Kuhl confirmed to Patch. The location in Johnstown will be closed, Kuhl said, adding that the many of the chain's Pennsylvania stores will undergo a multi-million dollar facelift.

Plymouth Meeting's Bed Bath & Beyond is located in the Metroplex Mall on 2410 Chemical Road.

In October, officials for New Jersey-based Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., whose sister stores include World Market, buybuyBaby and Harmon Face Values, said the company would be increasing the number of stores it expects to close during the current fiscal year to 60. That was 20 more than the amount announced back in April.

Most of the closings were designated to take place after the holiday shopping season — in early 2020 — according to an earnings report and a related conference call. The company's fiscal year typically ends in early March.

"As we continue to work toward executing on our business transformation, we remain confident in the strength of our brand and the future of Bed Bath & Beyond," executives said in the letter earlier this fall. "Our focus on putting the customer at the center of our transformation, supported by data and insights, is intended to restore Bed Bath & Beyond to its iconic status and improve the Company's competitive position."
