Plymouth Meeting Mall Adds Michaels And Miller's Ale House

Plymouth Meeting Mall continues its growth with two new anchors: Michaels and Miller's Ale House.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — Plymouth Meeting Mall continued its renaissance Wednesday with the announcement of two new anchor properties, Michaels and Miller's Ale House.

The announcement comes just a few months following the news that Dick's Sporting Goods, Burlington Coat Factory, and Edge Fitness would be arriving at the mall as well.

Altogether, the five new businesses complete the mall's replacement of the space formerly taken up by Macy's, which closed.

“As the definition of a ‘mall’ evolves and expands, the Plymouth Meeting Mall is unequivocally the prime example of what retail experiences of the future will look and feel like,” Joseph Coradino, CEO of Preit, said in a statement. “Through smart integration of entertainment, dining, grocery, fitness and an array of retail segments, we continue to drive traffic to the mall, creating an experience that keeps visitors coming again and again.”

Michaels, an arts and crafts and do-it-yourself giant, will take up a 26,000 square foot space, while Miller's Ale House, described as a "casual sports bar and restaurant" with occupy a 7,300 square foot spot.

Preit said they have now signed on 30 new tenants in 10 former department store spaces in the last 13 months as part of their "retailtainment" and "lifestyle destination" rebranding. After the Macy's closure seemed to foretell a scaling back in Plymouth Meeting - the larger and more famous King of Prussia Mall is, after all, just a few miles away - things took a notable turn upward when it was announced that Legoland Discovery Center would bring their first Pennsylvania location to the mall.

Since then, the mall has invested in entertainment experiences and family oriented programs. 5 Wits, escape room style entertainment, opened last year. They've also added Cycle bar, an indoor cycling studio, a Build-a-Bear kiosk, Busy Bees Pottery and Arts Studio, and more. That's in addition to the existing AMC movie theater and Whole Foods, along with four restaurants.

Dick's Sporting Goods, Burlington Coat Factory, and Edge Fitness are slated to open in spring 2019, while Michaels and Miller's Ale House will open in fall 2019.
