Plymouth Township to Host First-Ever Veterans Event Wednesday
Veterans and the public are invited to the Nov. 14 event.

Plymouth Township is honoring area veterans on Wednesday as part of a first-ever celebration which township officials hope will become an annual tradition.
Set for Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m., the recognition event will feature more than 40 veterans, including three from World War II. In addition to a veterans recognition, the ceremony will feature music, refreshments, a souvenir program and remarks from a retired Army colonel.
Many of the veterans who have registered for the event are from Plymouth Township, including a few township employees, according to Phil Brady, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation.

“However, we didn’t limit to township residents,” Brady said. “The more we can honor the better.”
The event comes a few days after the 100th anniversary of the armistice, which ended World War I on Nov. 11, 1918. Brady said the event was created at the suggestion of the township’s parks and recreation board as a way to recognize and honor veterans.
