SORA West, Massive New Development, Breaks Ground In Conshohocken

An 11-story tower will be the new global HQ of one of the world's biggest companies. There will also be a hotel with rooftop dining.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — A massive new mixed-use development featuring office space for a major company, a hotel, and dining options has broken ground in Conshohocken.

Officials are calling SORA West "vibrant public plaza," which, when complete, will include a 200-foot tower, 165-room hotel with a rooftop restaurant and lounge, a 1,500 space parking garage, and more.

Amerisourcebergen, a pharmaceutical distributor and one of the wealthiest companies in the world, will relocate its global headquarters to the 11-story, 429,000 square foot office tower.

“This marks a momentous occasion for both the development of SORA West and the borough of Conshohocken, as we begin to realize the collective vision of borough leaders, the Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority, and Keystone,” Keystone Property Group CEO Bill Glazer said in a statement. “The tower that begins to rise today will serve not only as a headquarters for a globally recognized, innovative company like AmerisourceBergen, but a centerpiece for a wider, mixed-use development that can fuel a new sense of vibrancy and economic growth in the borough for decades to come. ”

A highlight of the development: the 139-year-old Conshohocken Firehouse will be restored and transformed into a gastropub offering both indoor and outdoor seating.

Amerisourcebergen, which boasts $160 billion in annual revenue, plans to begin to move in to the new building in 2021. They will be the sole tenant. They've announced a new local grant program that will offer funding to nonprofits within a five to ten mile radius of their new headquarters.

The office tower is being designed by Gensler Architects. Real estate developers Keystone Property Group are heading up the project.
