Both had been members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Washington for years.
The cause of death of the Woodwards remains unclear, and it's not yet clear if foul play was involved. They were found by a US Postal Service worker late Tuesday morning, sparking a massive police response, including SWAT teams and police choppers. But nothing suspicious was found.
There have been mixed reports of the incident from sources. According to Penn Live, it was a "bloody scene" which the mail carrier encountered, while Philly.com reports there were no signs of trauma on either body.
The investigation remains ongoing. The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said that they are awaiting results of a toxicology test from the coroner's office.
Funeral services are set for next Monday.
