Whitemarsh Gets $1.1 Million To Improve Road, Trail, Bike Lanes

The major grant from the state will also expand the Cross County Trail while improving road safety.

WHITEMARSH, PA — Whitemarsh Township has received a major grant from the state to improve safety at a key intersection.

The state has awarded the township $1.10 million for a new traffic signal at Flourtown Road and Colonial Drive, officials announced.

The project will widen the left turn lanes at Colonial Drive and Wildflower Drive, as well as the bike lanes on Flourtown Road, authorities said.

It will also include construction on a portion of the Cross County Trail, which recently expanded.

It's part of $45.9 million in investments in 43 different transportation projects across the state.

“Transportation moves communities and economies forward,” Gov. Wolf said in a statement. “These investments will assist with overall mobility and safety in our local communities.”

Nearby, similar initiatives in Upper Gwynedd and Lower Providence also received funds.
