Whitemarsh Named Among 'Best Suburbs To Raise A Family' In PA

Whitemarsh ranks 39th in the state. Do you agree?

Good housing, low crime, good schools and community investment…does this describe Whitemarsh?

The township recently ranked 39th in Pennsylvania in a “Best Suburbs to Raise a Family” list, compiled by information services provider Niche.com.

“Whitemarsh Township is a suburb in Pennsylvania with 17,404 residents,” the study states. “It has very high home values, very high rent costs, and low unemployment levels. Its citizens generally have high education levels and very high income levels.”

The township was given an overall grade of “A+.”

The top suburb in Pennsylvania on the list was nearby Narberth.

New York’s Scarsdale, in Westchester County, took top honors nationally. Narberth was second in the nation.

The list analyzed the following factors for each suburb:

  • Crime and safety
  • Education
  • Access to libraries
  • Community
  • Housing
  • Access to day cares
  • Access to grocery stores
  • Percentage of residents 35-44 years old
  • Percentage of residents 9-years-old and under
