Aladdin, Art Shows, Performance of Carmen: Main Line Events This Sunday

Here’s some of the events happening around the Main Line area on Sunday.

Disney’s Aladdin Jr., at the Media Theater. The show features the tale of the street rat who became a prince -- the 60-minure for young audiences. All of your favorite characters from the hit Disney film -- Aladdin, Jasmine, Iago, Jafar, the Genie and more - are here in Disney’s Aladdin Jr.

The 2015 MCGOPA Summer Exhibition continues Sunday at Swarthmore Borough Hall, featuring the work of 21 MCGOPA artists working in a variety of mediums including: work on canvas, work on paper, collage, sculpture, photography and stained glass.

Exhibiting artists include Millie Becker, John A. Benigno, Julie Bortnick, Lois Charles, Alice K. Chung, Perky Cohen, Lucretia D. Coleman, Virginia Conover, Karen Love Cooler, Linnie Greenberg, Greg Hunt, Barbara Glickman, May Lomax, Pam McLean-Parker, Gail Morrison-Hall, Deb Northey, Rinal Parikh, Dae Rebeck Sanchez, Naomi Rubin, Irma Shapiro and Georgene Taylor.

Carmen, performed at the English National Opera and streamed live for residents’ view pleasure at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.

Scheduled for 1 p.m., “Carmen” features the music of Georges Bizet. Set during the dying days of Franco’s Spain, Calixto Bieito’s acclaimed production of this must-see opera has been enjoyed by audiences across Europe.
