The Conestoga Road Tunnel Lighting Safety Project is complete and the road will be open to traffic, Radnor Township announced.

Drivers in the Bryn Mawr are will want to avoid the Conestoga Road tunnel for the next month and a half or so due to a 24/7 closure.

The tunnel in the Garrett Hill neighborhood of Bryn Mawr closed early in November to allow crews to install a new LED lighting system in the tunnel. Both vehicle and pedestrian traffic was prohibited.

The tunnel was expected to be closed through Dec. 14 between South Roberts Road and Garrett Avenue.

The new LED system brings the tunnel's lighting up to current Pennsylvania Department of Transportation standards. According to the township, the lighting system, installed by Miller Bros., provides better safety conditions in the tunnel.
