Theatre Ariel presents Cabaret Middot: Celebrating Jewish Values through Song

On November 18th Theatre Ariel will present “Middot” – a cabaret, honoring the values and ethics that make one a “Mensch” (a person of integrity and honor). The biennial fundraising event will feature a kosher catered dinner & dessert and an original musical cabaret drawing songs from the American musical theatre canon by Jewish composers and lyricists. This entertaining event will recognize and honor Pecki & Carl Witonsky, David Piver & Julie Meyers, Richard & Nancy Bennett, Susan Moses, and Marissa Barnathan for their contributions to the Theatre Ariel community.
In 1800’s Eastern Europe, Jewish parlors became salons where reading plays aloud was a newly fashionable way to spend an evening. For over 25 years Theatre Ariel has practiced the tradition of salon performances. Guests are transported away from the stage to experience theatre in an intimate setting inside beautiful houses around the Philadelphia Area. Salon Ariel evenings are unique, personal, and thought-provoking. Every Salon program offers engaging performances, great conversation, and delicious food.
Theatre Ariel creates, produces, and performs new and established works reflecting on the global Jewish experience. Salon Ariel performances serve as a prism through which audiences can view the varied colors of the American Jewish experience and draw inspiration from ancient stories, bringing contemporary insight to classic Jewish Texts. Through performances and conversations guests explore faith, family, identity, community, history and more while reflecting on the past, examining the present, and exploring the future.
