Donald DiCarlo, Longtime Radnor Police Officer, Passes At 75
He was a Vietnam vet, Villanova Athletics Department's Events Coordinator, and Valley Forge Military Academy Junior College football coach.

Donald P. DiCarlo, born on March 28, 1944, and a lifelong resident of Radnor Township, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019. Don, known affectionately to many as “Big D” or “Coach,” was predeceased in 2013 by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary Jane. He is the father of Donald P. DiCarlo, Jr. (Denise) and Scott DiCarlo (Jeanene), grandfather of Justin, Erica, and Tori, step-grandfather of Aaron and Chris, brother of John and the late Frank and Steve DiCarlo, and loving friend and companion of Flo D’Ignazio.
After graduation from Radnor High School in 1962, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He then reenlisted and volunteered to serve in the Vietnam War from 1966-1967.Following military service, he joined the Radnor Township Police Department, where he was trained as an accident investigator and county SWAT team member. After an early retirement from the Police Department, he spent the rest of his working career in the Villanova University Athletics Department as Events Coordinator.

Don also had a 40 plus year career as a basketball, baseball, golf and football coach at the youth, high school, and collegiate level. Most recently, he served as the Head Football coach at Valley Forge Military Academy Junior College, where he won several division championships.
Family and friends may call 8:30 to 10:30 AM Tuesday May 14 followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Thomas of Villanova Church (university campus).Interment is private.
