Footlighters Theater Presents Ken Ludwig’s MOON OVER BUFFALO

Footlighters Theater continues its 90th season with its production of the uproarious comedy, Moon Over Buffalo, written by Ken Ludwig

Moon Over Buffalo offers up playwright Ken Ludwig at his best. As in his Tony-award-winning Lend Me A Tenor, this show is a mix of backstage craziness--complete with slamming doors, heated arguments, actors coming and going, ripping clothes and the odd appearance of a TV weatherman. Moon Over Buffalo contains the perfect mixture of witty one-liners and hilarious physical comedy. The original Broadway production featured the incomparable Carol Burnett.

Set in 1953, the play tells the story of two aging stars of film & screen who find themselves doing “Cyrano de Bergerac” and “Private Lives” in a dilapidated theater in Buffalo. All seems lost for this dynamic duo. Their theater company is facing bankruptcy; their marriage is on the rocks….

In the middle of it all, their daughter arrives with big news, at the same time word arrives that a Hollywood big shot will attend that day’s matinee, offering a chance back to stardom. It appears simple enough. Then the mayhem begins.

What ensues is Ken Ludwig at his best. As in his A Comedy of Tenors (currently playing at Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theater), this show is a mix of backstage craziness--complete with slamming doors, actors running on and off stage, heated arguments, ripping clothes and an odd appearance of a TV weatherman. Moon Over Buffalo contains the perfect mixture of witty one-liners and hilarious physical comedy.

To bring this classic farce to life, director Kirk Paul has put together a fabulous cast of local talent including Tom Libonate, Jennifer Dinan, Emily Sturz, Bob McCormick, Norma Kider, David Richman, William Gilbertson and Shannon Clemens.
