"Lights of Old St. David's" Display Open Through January 5th
St. David's Church, Radnor, invites the public to enjoy its first Christmas light display "Lights of Old St. David's" in the churchyard.

St. David's Church, Radnor, invites the public to enjoy its first-ever Christmas light display "Lights of Old St. David's" in the churchyard surrounding its historic church. The self-guided drive-through tour is open Thursdays through Sundays now through January 5th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Christmas choral music, performed by the St. David's Choir, is available to accompany guests' drive and can be accessed through the church's closed-circuit radio station FM 88.1.
Over 50 church volunteers erected the light display, which covers approximately 5 acres of the historic property, using both church-owned and donated Christmas lights and extension cords. "We have this beautiful piece of property and saw an opportunity to add brightness to the season for our parishioners and the surrounding community," explained parishioner Tim Phelps, who oversaw the effort. "Feedback from neighbors and guests has been overwhelmingly positive," Phelps observes. "While this idea was borne as a way to brighten the pandemic's darkness, at this point we are thinking it will be an annual event."
St. David's Church, which dates to 1715, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is the oldest continuously operating Episcopal Church in the United States. It was commemorated in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "Old St. David's Radnor" and is the resting place of several historic dignitaries, including General Anthony Wayne.
