“COVID-19 cancelled almost everything, but it did not cancel our clients’ needs,” said Help Hope Live Executive Director Kelly L Green. “Our nonprofit’s mission is to support community-based fundraising for people with unmet medical and related expenses due to cell and organ transplants or catastrophic injuries and illnesses. Our clients are among the most vulnerable to the pandemic not only because of their underlying medical conditions but also canceled fundraisers they rely on for financial support. Due to restrictions on in-person events, we have had to pivot our fundraising plans to virtual experiences or reimagined events such as Crab ‘N Go. Our survival—and that of our clients—depends on the success of this new strategy.”
