Lower Merion High School Hosting Benefit Basketball Game Nov 10
Lower Merion School District teachers, administrators, students, and staff members will take on the Harlem Wizards for a benefit game.

ARDMORE, PA – Do Lower Merion School District teachers, administrators, students and staff members have what it takes to beat basketball legends Harlem Wizards? Well, we'll find out on Nov. 10 when district officials take on the Wizards at a benefit game.
At 2 p.m. on Nov. 10, the LMSD GOATs will take on the crazy, kooky antics of the Harlem Wizards in the Kobe Bryant Gymnasium at Lower Merion High School.
The event will raise money for a variety of district-related causes, including A Better Chance, which offers students from underserved communities, with a home away from home while attending Lower Merion High School; Lower Merion Scholarship Fund, awarding post-high school education grants for needs- based Lower Merion and Harriton High School graduates; and Lower Merion High School activities.

"What better way for the elementary and middle school students to walk through the doors of a great high school where students are having fun while at the same time working for a great cause" Lower Merion High School Principal, Sean Hughes, who is also the game’s referee, said.
The LMSD GOATs are teachers, administrators and staff members from eight different schools in the District, along with four students and a district administrator. The LMHS students on the team say the game gives them a unique opportunity not only to play the famous Wizards, but also to team up with their current and former teachers, and when else in their lives would a great opportunity to play the Wizards come around.

"I cannot wait to step on the court with the Harlem Wizards and teach them a few things. I’ve watched their highlight videos, and I am so excited to compete against them," said Zoe Shub, a GOATs student player and member of the Lower Merion High School Basketball team.
The event will include a raffle for tickets to the 76ers, a hotel stay and dinner, a performance by the LMHS Dance Team, refreshment sales and the timeout antics of the Wizards.
The Wizards are combination of basketball talent and comedy. Their athleticism, tricks, fancy teamwork and ball handling wizardry engages and wows the fans. The Wizards have fun with both pre-planned comedic acts with spontaneous humor. While NBA teams measure success based on wins and losses, the Wizards’ victories are in smiles of the children in the audience and the millions of charitable dollars raised for organizations around the world.
Lower Merion High School is located at 315 E. Montgomery Ave. in Ardmore.
