While supplies held out, registrants got one or two saplings to take home and plant – bald cypress, swamp white oak, bur oak, American yellowwood, sugar maple, black gum or grey birch – all native to this region of Pennsylvania.

It was the second part of Radnor Conservancy’s double Arbor Day celebration, following a well-attended tree planting ceremony Friday, April 26 in Clem Macrone Park to salute Radnor on its recognition as a "Tree City USA" for the 26th consecutive year.

"The tree giveaway is one of our favorite events each year," Radnor Conservancy President Laura Luker said. "Not only do Radnor residents get to feel responsible for planting trees in their own yards, but these native trees provide shade, water management and wildlife habitats to the whole community."

Radnor Conservancy paid for all 175 native trees that were given away.

Additionally, nine trees were donated for Clem Macrone Park and 15 for Harford Park replenishment.
