Police Week 2020: Radnor Township Administration Honors Radnor Police Department
RPD made a number of important arrests, clearing the way for a safe and healthy Radnor.
May 15, 2020
Join us as we celebrate National Police Week (May 10 – 16, 2020) and the work front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of the police service do to keep our community safe. This week we pay special recognition to those law enforcement officers who serve as the frontline combat against COVID-19 as well as those who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

On May 4, 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as National Peace Officer Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as Police Week in "honor of those peace officers who through their courageous deeds have lost their lives or have become disabled in the performance of their duty."
Here in Radnor Township, we rely on Radnor Police Department (RPD) every day to provide for the safety and security of our community and during times of crisis like the one we are all experiencing now. The RPD is an important member of the first responder and emergency management team and we are committed to supporting our law enforcement officers as they support this community every day. “I am extremely thankful to work alongside such a committed, professional, and community focused department,” said Bill White, Radnor Township Manager. “As a resident, I am thankful to know that regardless of the situation or circumstances, we have the very best group of police officers keeping our community safe. So while we stop and say thank you this week, please know that our gratitude runs 24/7/365.”
RPD had a busy year since we last celebrated National Police Week. They have responded to countless 911 calls for assistance during dangerous weather events and other emergencies. RPD made a number of important arrests, clearing the way for a safe and healthy Radnor. They’ve responded at all hours to assist residents, the business community and our local educational institutions in situations that were serious and even those that fell outside the line of duty. Nevertheless, our dedicated RPD continued to serve us by handling those calls in a professional manner until appropriate solutions could be found.
In a close knit community like Radnor, some of us know our police officers by name. Others of us only know our Radnor police officers when they arrive in a marked vehicle. However, all of us share in the peace of mind they afford us and we sleep better knowing that someone is always on watch should we need assistance. Please join us in saying “thank you” to the Radnor Police Department, law enforcement around the country and the families who share them with us.
Be sure to wave when an officer passes by. To learn more, check out www.policeweek.org.
