Radnor Commissioner Admits Conflict Of Interest: Report

Commissioner Elaine Schaefer has conceded that she should recuse herself from any discussion of the North Wayne Field basin.

A member of the Radnor board of commissioners has admitted there is a potential conflict of interest in her participation in any vote or discussion regarding the township school district, according to Main Line Media News.

Commissioner Elaine Schaefer has reportedly agreed that she should recuse herself from discussions particularly about the North Wayne Field basin, which is owned by the school district. According to the report, Schaefer’s husband owns a sporting goods company that does business with the district, and is also a paid assistant softball coach.

Township and school officials have reportedly been negotiating a plan to enlarge the North Wayne Field basin. One possible suggestion was that the township swap for the property, or buy the field from the district, the report said.

Schaefer’s husband’s company, Longstreth Sporting Goods, has reportedly done $12,293 in business with the district from Feb. 25, 2014 through June 23, 2015.

The commissioner’s acquiescence comes after an open records request filed recently by brothers Parker Sherry and Daniel Sherry Jr., both of whom are attorneys.
