Radnor High Grad's 'Nick Filet' Grand Opening In Wayne Is Dec. 18
The Wayne Nick Filet restaurant will still cut its ribbon on Dec. 18 amid restrictions, giving out free sandwiches to the earliest in line.

WAYNE, PA — The ribbon-cutting for Wayne's new Nick Filet restaurant will not be deterred by the most recent state COVID-19 safety guidance for restaurants.
The new filet mignon sandwich restaurant will open on Friday as planned, but with no indoor dining. Customers can still walk in to order with masks on, the company said.
The new location at 313 E. Lancaster Ave. in the Wayne Shopping Center is Malvern-based Nick Filet's first franchise; it's owned and operated by a Nick Filet employee and Radnor High School graduate Brandon Howell.

Nick Filet is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in affordable, steakhouse quality meals for lunch and dinner. Known for its $8.99 cooked-to-order filet mignon sandwich on a toasted Amoroso Kaiser roll, the concept offers a high-end alternative to burger joints and cheesesteak shops. Nick Filet’s tender filet mignon sandwiches can be built to order with melted cheese and free toppings, including steak sauce, horseradish, mushrooms, and onions.
The 2,000-square-foot store will be open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature indoor seating when and as allowed under pandemic restrictions, as well as takeout, delivery through DoorDash and Grubhub, and catering.
A 2016 Radnor High School graduate, franchisee Howell is excited to prove his skills as owner and operator, a goal he’s been working towards since he joined the Nick Filet team in October of 2018.
"It's been incredible getting to learn the business first-hand from co-founders Nick and Keith Kline," said Howell.
"Over the past two years, I’ve helped develop operations that I’ll now put into place at this Wayne location. I couldn’t be happier to share what I believe be the best filet sandwich with my Main Line community."
Philadelphia Magazine named Nick Filet a "Best of Philly 2020" winner for its $16.99 filet mignon and lobster Surf & Turf Sandwich. Many customers go for the concept’s signature sandwiches, such as the Nickadelphia which comes topped with provolone cheese, onions, and horseradish. Popular menu items also include a filet grilled cheese, bun-free filet bites, and parmesan truffle fries.
Howell's personal favorite — a build-your-own sandwich with onions and hot sauce — is also available.
When Nick Filet’s co-founders Nick and Keith Kline of Malvern cooked their first filet mignon sandwich on a backyard grill in 2018, they knew they had created something special.
Within months, the father and son team had opened the first Nick Filet in Paoli and quickly followed it up with a second location in Cape May, NJ. The company announced in May that they would begin franchising in Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
