A quick look back through the events that led up to this week’s protest at Radnor High School:

August 31: Contract expires between Radnor teachers, school district

September 8: School year begins.

September 10: Teachers, wearing black, hold informational pickets outside a fall open house at Radnor Elementary School.

September 13: Teachers in the district inform students that they will not be writing college recommendations for high school seniors through the remainder of September, or until their contract dispute with the district is solved.

September 14: The school board, in a letter, expresses “disappointment” in this development.

September 16 (morning): Radnor High School seniors write a letter to school board and announce that they will wear white at school throughout the week, as a protest against the college-letter moratorium, and in favor of a negotiated contract agreement.

September 16 (night): Following the protest, Radnor teachers agree to immediately reinstate the letter-writing. Negotiations between teacher and district are set to begin next Monday.

September 17: Students announce that they will shift the focus of their protest and wear black instead, in support of the teachers.
